OneTouch UltraSmart Using SmartButtons

SmartButtonsSmartButtons® are located across the bottom of your OneTouch® UltraSmart® Meter and let you enter the kind of information you'd enter in a paper logbook. There are SmartButtons for exercise, health, medication, and food. The FastFacts® SmartButton® (the center button) lets you view and edit information stored in the meter memory: test results, averages, and health information. Best of all, you can choose how you want to see your information displayed, with easy access to 12 different reports.

Press any SmartButton to turn on the meter and enter data.

Exercise SmartButtonExercise SmartButton®

  • Enter exercise amount (Duration) and level (Mild, Moderate, or Hard).
  • You can comment on whether a test result was obtained before, during, or after exercise.
  • After you've entered your exercise information, select Logbook from the FastFacts Menu to view your entries by date and time.
  • Select Averages by Exercise from the FastFacts Menu to view your glucose results before, during, and after exercise for the last 7, 14, 30, 60, and 90 days.

Enter Health Notes and Health Checks as additional logbook information.

Health Notes allows you to comment on your overall health at the time of the test.

Health Checks allows you to enter health information:

  • Ketones (negative, trace, small, moderate, large)
  • A1c (values from 4% to 15% in 0.1 increments)
  • Microalbumin (normal, positive, or a numeric value from 0 to >1000)
  • Cholesterol (1-mg/dL increments for Total up to >1000), LDL (up to >500), HDL (up to >500), and Triglycerides (up to >3000)
  • Blood Pressure (systolic from 80-200 mmHg, diastolic from 40-150 mmHg)
  • Eye Exam (date of exam)
  • Foot Exam (date of exam)
  • Weight/Height (weight in 0.5-pound increments, height in 0.5-inch increments)
  • Dr. Visit (date of visit to doctor)
  • After you've entered your Health Checks information, select Health Checks from the FastFacts Menu to view results and dates of various check-ups.
  • Select Hypo Info from the FastFacts Menu to view the actual number of hypoglycemic events (defined by the level set by you) before and after meals and during the night for the last 7, 14, 30, 60, and 90 days.

Medication SmartButtonMedication SmartButton

  • Enter your diabetes pills, insulin types and dosages, and insulin pump information. Record pills in one-half pill increments. Record insulin units in 0.1 increments.
  • After you've entered your insulin information, select Insulin Intake from the FastFacts Menu to view average insulin doses by insulin type, before and after meals, for the last 7, 14, 30, 60, and 90 days.

Food SmartButtonFood SmartButton

  • Enter food information for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack and Alcohol.
  • Enter carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the range of 0 to 250 in 1-unit increments.
  • Carbohydrates may be entered as units or grams, whichever you prefer.
  • Calories may be entered in 5-unit increments in the range of 0 to 2550.
  • After you've entered your food information, select Food Averages from the FastFacts Menu to view your average daily intake of carbohydrates, fats, calories, and proteins over the last 7, 14, 30, 60, and 90 days.
